What do you have for a packing gland or cutlass bearing?

Not sure what everyone else here has done...? I was on a budget and cut two 'plates' out of marine ply (used the original stern gland fittings for templates) and then bolted them using the original bolt holes, one on the outside one on the inside. I filled up the old hole with sikaflex but i'd say that was just paranoia. Oh, i epoxied the endgrain and epoxied some cloth on the outside face.

Careful what you use for bolts and don't whatever you do mix up dissimilar metals down there (bolts and stern gland) or something will disappear, but you know that...guess that means you might need to find some threaded silicon bronze..

maybe someone has an easier better idea??
