This is buried in the archives some place, but on Renegade I felt the need for a temporary bowsprit like you see on a lot of racing trimarans, ect, that they see the screetcher on. It was 6 feet long from the front of the boat, if I remember right, and I would set large 1 oz nylon flying jibs on it. It's a cheap way to add a lot of light air sail power.
