Hi Marvin,
From what I understand, the Berries packed them in everywhere they played in Cleveland while they were a local bar band. Once they hit it big, the attitude was: "What? pay $5.00 to see them in concert?" Why just a few months ago I could see them for free at the corner bar!" (wow, I don't remember the last concert that was only $5.00)
I remember reading this somewhere. If I'm wrong, I apologize and hopefully Dave will set me straight.
