Who knows if the rumor has any truth to it, but it does make some sense.
Rick wants to be President of the USA in 2008. He certainly can't afford to lose to Casey and he can't even afford a close race. To keep the delusional right-wingers believing that he's a "rust belt converstive" who could make inroads in the Northeast and the Mid-west, Santorum MUST romp over his Democratic opponent in 2006.
If he thinks Casey is in, he just might announce the formation of his Presidential exploratory committee next year, and say he not running so he can devote his ull-time to advancing George W's agenda......and then start his campaign in 2006.
Just a thought.
