Desire paced the paddock out of habit. She hadn't been fed in four weeks and it showed, his sides sunken in behind her ribs in a fashion that made ones heart ache just looking at her. Her mane and tail a knotted mess and her black coat dirty and sunbleached to an off mahogany hue. The mare was quiet normally, but for some reason chose to let out a heartbreaking whinny from behind the abandoned barn before pawwing at the gate in an impatient but tired fashion. Her head drooped, and the mare snorted as the gate gave a lonely chink, chink...
