For the winners of our VA pageant, what will happen if they wanted to compete for the Visibility award at the national pageant? Do you think Lori would count VA appearances, since our pageant is so close to the deadline. I think it would be sort of impossible for the winners to do enough appearances to count in one month? Just a thought I had....

to do so, and we all have to be uniform on the issue. If not, well it's just a side effect of competing in an actual pageant rather than going at-large. Also, we give a visibility award which is the *same* quality as what you win at the National level (a large engraved plaque), so even if closed out by the time period, you won't be missing out because the state award is just as nice.

I believe one *overall* winner got a sponsor-donated digital camera but she made over 90 in one year as an at-large (Mrs. California) and there's no way even as a local going into state you could beat that entering at this point in the game IMHO. But I will ask and see if those numbers would assist at the next level and find out!

Thanks! Just thought I would ask. It isn't a big deal to me, but just thought I'd put something up here for discussion.

Here's the excerpt from her email that actually pertains to this question:

****
"RE: appearances. hmmm.......I actually think that is fine. If the appearances are on behalf of the system, they should count. I'm not doing an overall award anymore for "most appearances....."

"So, from now on, it is just a little extra recognition for those who made an effort. The real reward is the appearances themselves anyway. So, go ahead and tell your girls that I will credit them for appearances made on behalf of VA."

Lori
