cadee fixed the coat on her shoulders and said softly, "thanks." she said, almost feeling a small realm of safety around her for the time being. she felt his presence. she felt him near her. it comforted her. usually, nothing comforted her but dirty sidewalks. cadee heard his question and was ashamed to answer. yet she knew the truth. the cold, harsh truth. "in a dingy little apartment, or in an alley somewhere." cadee said softly, afraid he might label her a street rat and desert her like most others. cadee failed to mention how she got her apartment. she didnt plan on telling him either. well, not for the time being anyways. it hurt her to know how she got her apartment.
