Subject: What's it been, almost a decade? It still smarts like it was four minutes ago.. we only influenced each other totally.. we only bruised each other even more so..

When you were living in a crowded house, cramming yourself and your two children into a tiny room at your friends' already-too-full apartment it wasn't hard to mask the way that you felt. The change that you felt. Peter, the astute five year old that followed close at his mother's heels while she entered the lodge, chubby blonde babygirl on one arm, had noticed the difference about the way his mommy was acting though. The sombre little boy had inquired about it earlier and been met with a rebuke of "mommy's lonely, honey, that's all". It wasn't easy to watch a marriage that had been carefully constructed over five years just crumble before your very eyes. And she wasn't being slow about the divorce papers coming along either. She knew that whatever had been between them was unreparable now, and there was no use in trying.
Aislinn, the tiny blonde on her hip reached for her mother's hair, fisting her wet, grummy fingers in her mother's long waves of blonde, and instead of scolding her, her mother turned her face against the child's fingers to press her lips there, a small smile playing across her features. Her children - they were her life now. She really had no other option..

Soon I'll grow up and I won't even flinch at your name..
