Liam quickly swallowed the tight lump of annoyance that had formed in his throat. Because I mean, how could he be mad at her for not wanting to tell him something as personal as what she had just told him? So right now he was feeling sort of, well, -- like an ass. And he'd never thought of himself as the 'assy' type... but this moment was different. 'Assy' would probably describe him after the way her had acted just moment ago. Roughly, he brushed choppy bangs 'way from those hazel eyes of his and then looked over at Rilla, solidly this time. Fuck the scenery, he thought, she's better. With a boldness in his tone, he stated, "I shouldn't have asked you about that. I really shouldn't have." Slowly, he lifted himself from the couch and flopped down on her couch instead. A frown firmly planted 'cross his features, and a i'm-the-lowest-lifeform-here feeling coursing through his veins, he began to stroke her hair quietly. While tucking a smooth lock 'hind her ear, he whispered, "I'm sorry... I just, didn't know. I wouldn't have asked... I won't, not ever again." And he wouldn't, ever again. S'far as Toad was concerned, there were some thing he didn't need to know. Not even about Rilla, no matter how desperate he was to fully know her. He just, didn't need to know. Silence was golden, Toad decided as he watched Rilla tenderly. Why had he been such an ass? ...even he didn't have that answer.
