Well, Justin was right… Emma’s parents were nothing like her. They were monsters… and that was just it. I don’t know exactly how it happened, but Emma and her two brothers had all turned out to not carry with the bitch-ay gene… Thank God.
At Justin’s simple but well-said explanation of his financial state and background, Emma sort of winced and lowered her golden-locked head. She hated to have him saying all this stuff aloud to her snob parents… I mean, it all just wasn’t normal, or fair – to him, or her. Besides, she didn’t give a damn about Justin’s money… and couldn’t understand why her parents did – aside from the fact that they were punch-drunk-in-love with money. She loved Justin for Justin, but that was a concept they’d never get. Emma stole a quick second to glance up at him, her hazel eyes grasping his. “That was good…” She finally murmured to him out of the corner of her mouth, so as to not allow her parents to see her or hear her. “Very good… They’ll shut up now… maybe.” After silence enveloped her and she had pulled back on that very fake smile for her Mother, and, er... Father, she squeezed his hand weakly – yet again, just to let him know she was there, for now – and always. “So,” she finally said, trying to clear the uncomfortable silence. “That’s Justin… Mom? Dad?”

Owen had just sort of been left in the dust of unbelieving-ness at his parents’ reactions.
’Oh, right… thanks for all your congratulations. Love you, too.’
He thought sarcastically, fighting with his face muscles to not show any emotion that would reveal what he was feeling inside. Stupid parents, he hated them… almost as much as birds. Shaking his head a bit, he finally looked to his weathered Mother, and that bottle-blonde head of hers, “Mom, Erica and I haven’t really… Well, it’s kind of early to think of all of that, y’know… yet.” Owen wanted kids… God knows he wanted kids, simply ‘cause kids were… well… just this concept that Erica had brought walking into his head ever since the first moment he’d known he was in love with her. Before Erica, the idea of having kids just wasn’t something our Owen boy would ever go through… but somehow, being a parent alongside the woman he loved was an idea that now appealed to him, kind of like the idea of scoffing down buckets, and buckets of skittles brought a smile to his face. Yup, yup. But anyways…. Yeah, so, he wanted kids – but not at the moment, I mean… Erica and he had a ton of time for that, he figured… Hell, they had the rest of their young lives! Besides, Erica still had to go to school, as did he, and well… he wouldn’t let his Mom ruin that for either of them. Kids would come when they wanted them, not when she wanted them. At his Father’s stupid questions about money – and whatever, all Owen could do was glare and suppress the urge to growl at the man he’d once admired. “Dad…” Owen scolded in low and firm tone, his eyes narrowing to slits. ”Please… just… stop.” He paused, meeting his father eye-to-eye. “What I mean, is… stop talking, for the good of everyone around you. Please and thanks.” Owen gave his father a bit of a devilish grin, simply ‘cause he knew it’d piss the old man off; the way his oldest son was acting. Owen glanced down to Erica affectionately, wanting to just hug her tightly right then and there – in thanks for her brilliant answers. His fingers tightened gently ‘round hers as he spoke, his voice directed towards the witch and warlock he called is parents. “Erica and I are… well, happy… and I now this is going to be hard for you to grasp, but that’s all that really matters to me… to us.”

Joe chuckled, running a hand through his chocolate-hued curls. “I’m living… but already only just a little. You have to help me to live large, Miss. Moore!” He shouted, his expression glowing with the warmth of a humoured smile. For some reason, he was feeling all giddy right now… This was probably just because the situation back there with his parents had been pretty… well… tense, and he’d needed to laugh – really badly, and then Di had stepped right in and just – saved him. Yup, she’d made him laugh… and that made her saviour at this moment in time. But the thing was, now that Joe had laughed – he was having trouble stopping. Doubling over, and then placing one broad hand on the girl’s shoulder for support, while the other went to his knee, Joe chuckled, “Well then, Miss. Moore… thanks for making this ‘pretty head’ laugh…” Looking up, he allowed his hazel eyes to greet her blue ones. “I mean it, thanks…” For a moment, Joe paused, ‘fore murmuring, “but y’know… there is just no way I’m letting you take the heat, it wouldn’t be fair!” Still chuckling he straightened up, his hazel eyes scanning the area ‘round the pair. Glancing back to her, his laughter seemed to have just stopped abruptly, although there was still the distant endings of a smile ‘pon his chiselled features. And then, oh-so-suddenly, and out of the friggin’ damn blue, Joe leaned forward – as if in a daze – and planted this gentle, and rather innocent kiss to Di’s lips. I think even Joe himself was surprised at it, as his lips softly roamed the surface of hers for a quiet moment. I mean, the boy hadn’t exactly planned on kissing her… it had just – happened! Almost as if his body had follow an impulse that his mind hadn’t been conscious of… or had it? Ahhh… Joe just didn’t know! All so suddenly, Joe pulled back with wide eyes and gaping O for a mouth.
‘Oh… shit… shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!’
“I’m really sorry for that…. I don’t know why I… It was a mistake. I’m sorry. Please forget I… I should go.”
Joe whirled and began to walk, he didn’t know where, but he was walking. Damnit, damnit! He was walking in the direction that would lead to his parents. Better double back, right? Right, that’s what Joe did… Walking back the way he came, he crossed paths with Di yet again…
“Yep, going this way… going away. Sorry, again. Yes, sorry… sorry… sorry…”
He was still mumbling a bunch of sorries to an invisible Di as he walked down to this stream-type thing that was located just off the parking lot and sat down on it’s shore. Finally silent, Joe just began to throw pebbles into the water, all the while – allowing himself to curse himself inwardly. Ick, did he always have to be so damned stupid?! Probably… Yes, because of course, Owen had gotten all the smarts, leaving none for lil’ ol’ Joey.

“Better, Justin.” Mrs. McAllistor announced, her face relaxing from its tight expression just a tad. “At least you get instructions the second time ‘round… I mean, you’re a little slow, but I suppose you were just born that way… it’s quite unfortunate, actually.” Susan McAllistor took a moment to paste on a sympathetic face before it quickly twisted back into it’s normal up-tight one. “Emma…M’girl, you could have done so much better… A slow boy? Geeze, Emma, did I raise you wrong?” The questions were not really meant to be answered by anyone, and Susan didn’t really pause to allow answers to flow from anyone’s lips… but instead, she continued on to grill Erica – the new McAllistor-in-waiting. “Well… I do hope that’ll happen. I mean, since… children and simply what women are supposed to do. Now, you’ll have at least two – am I correct? Four would be great… And then six, well… six is just a brilliant number, I definitely think you should have at least –“ As she was cut off by Owen, Susan McAllistor just sort of patted down her hair and blinked her faux eyelashes rapidly before saying, “Well, yes… I suppose you’ll do what you want to – anyways… as you always do. Now, when is the wedding… I expect I shall plan all of it, from Erica’s Dress – to the color of flowers that will line the pews! So… when, Owen, when?” And Mrs. McAllistor’s excited expression was enough to scare a ghost into ending it’s haunting career… I mean, just – eak! As the eldery woman looked from son to daughter-in-law she seemed to be mapping out their futures and the futures of their children in her head, without a care as to what Erica or Owen wanted. As Mrs. McAllistor put on another one of her fabulous playing-mommy roles, Mr.McAllistor stayed busy by ignoring Emma and Justin’s existence, and focusing entirely on calculating – in his head -- how much money he’d need for a wedding in Maui. Currently, the money-sick man was way too focused on… well, money – to even notice, or care, about his son’s pleas with him to just… shut-up. He wasn’t aware enough to even get the slightest bit irked at the way his son had asked him to quiet down. Dude, Mr. old man McAllistor – you need to get your head out of those clouds, they’re killing brains cells, dude!!! (Please, don’t ask… I was thinking about the movie “Finding Nemo”… hehe… Love that movie!)
