Not to respond to my own post or anything-lol, but the trip back stirred so many memories. Being that the buildings and surrounding area were so quiet, it was easy to hear "ghosts" of my past. As I walking down the 5th floor hallway, I heard the sounds of me and my friends racing up and down the hallway, the sounds of us playing the electronic game "Simon" in the hallway. Remember the family above me who had 2 teenagers trying to perfect the theme from "The Sting" on the piano. The teenangers hangin by the elevator, "TuffY" the dog who lived next door to me (who I used to try to ride on his back). I walked to the playground on the side of the building, again, dead and baron. Back in the day, the moms sitting, watching the children. Climbed "the wall" on East 55 Street, damn, it looks a hell of a lot lower at 35 years old as opposed to 7-lol. No more ice cream man. Remember the day I got clocked by an on coming car running for ice cream. No teenagers hanging out in front of the building listening to "Heartache Tonight" by the Eagles, Today just a quiet street, you could hear a pin drop, no children, moms or teenagers. PS. 251 playground and school yard, not a soul in sight. Can hear the ghost of music past as a child hearing "Night Fever" on a car radio while playing on the swings in the playground. Walked to Utica Avenue to building 1 where my grandparents used to live, funny, I never remember a sign that read "XXX Video" on the corner of Utica and Flatlands as a child. I remember Bohack (later C-Town) now completely gone and the pool, long gone. That pool was awesome, remember Mr.Pepitone announcing when it was ok for the children to come into the pool. Cant forget the snack bar and the "Bobby Hull" pinball machine in the lobby. Oh well, so much for the memories. Was just kinda cool reliving them for one day.
