Ted - Good memory - Mickey and Carole are my siblings (about 10 years older than myself). I also have another sister (Cathy) who also worked as a Lifeguard at the pool...somewhere around 76-82. As you can guess, the pool club was a significant part of my family's life and it amazes me how blessed we all were to have had the opportunity to grow up in such a unique way....yet not realize the gift until it was gone.

After writing my original message and reading what other 'bloggers' have written, I spoke with my mother and sister (Carole)about the content and they both were in tears when I told them.....women....go figure :o) But after sharing my news with my family, I realized something very special.....that I felt myself while reading what others wrote but didnt put the pieces together.....what I realized is that hearing others (non family) speak of my grandfather (in what ever way they remember him) made him more real again. Sometimes the stories you have within the presence of your family only seem to turn your memories into fairy tales and folklore and after awhile they seem to feel almost imaginary.....as if your memories are of things that never happened. Seeing others share thoughts (after this many years) about my Gramps made him live stronger in our hearts once again......as if his passing was only a few years ago....and reignited our love for him which was beginning to fade by the passage of time.

Its hard to explain and probably way too deep for a message board.....but I felt like sharing :o)

Anyway Ted - I will pass on your kind thoughts to my family and I THANK YOU for taking the time to share. If there is one thing I have learned from this recent meassge page experience...it is....take time to share your memories with others, you never know what gifts lay hidden in your heart/mind that can benefit others around you.

Take care and cherish the memories of days passed and embrace the moments in your future.
