"We all want something from war...or else their would not be one." Kieran said in an aloof tone. Perhaps Rome did not want war, but they really had no choice. Kieran noticed the other's interest in his own foreign weapons -maybe the man had more experience in war...but katars were far more different than swords and potentially more powerful when used properly.

Kieran realized the man had moved up within swords length. He considered this quickly, knowing that he would half to leave the bounds of defense for a second to get within range when using his smaller weapon.

Finally, Kieran made the first move-the signal of an attack. He punched out with great speed, wrist facing upwards, then suddenly he flipped his wrist downwards- leaving the katar to make a daring drive. Whether the man could block or not depended on how familiar he was with this fighting style- a form using regular punches added with the lethal force of the katar. However, he knew the other mascu had experience so it was unlikely he would be cut down so easily.

Meanwhile, the left handed katar remained ready to defend a sword and rested slighly to the front left of Kieran. Maybe in a sword fight the man would have the upperhand, but in this situation...it was clearly even ground.
