Congrats on the 650. I don't know what the 'experts' use, but I have had 3 Treos, and SnapperMail doesn't have a peer. Stick with it, and it will take good care of you!

Here are a few things that I have found very useful on both the T650, and the T600 I had beforehand:

1) If you have a Sprint T650...get the firmware updater (v1.08). If you don't have this, you have 1/2 a Treo

2) Initiate for your launcher. This was designed specifically for the T650, and is killer. You can find any contact, app, song or file by any typing. Skins, lots of config options, EASY TO USE!

3) PocketTunes Deluxe. The only music app for the T650. Forget the emasculated RealPlayer that came with it. PocketTunes (with a 1GB SD card) will give you MP3, WMA, WAV, OggVorbis and streaming content.

4) Softick CardExport II: shows your SD card as a drive via USB.

5) Directory Assistant: Simple freebie that will find tel #'s (business and residential), maps, directions. It will also save your found contact information (tel and address) to your Contacts dB, in whatever category you choose. Sweet!

6) KB Lights: let's you turn your keyboard lights on and off at will

7) KeyCaps 600: Gives your keyboard 'Blackberry' functionality (double click a key, instead of ALT...hold a key down for CAPS)

8) Vindigo: subscription service for most major cities that gives you recommendations, maps, directions to: restaurants, bars, shops, entertainment...even bathrooms!

Hi, I too am a recent Treo switcher. I used to use an IPAQ. I switched in order to consolidate phone and PDA.

Now, I have a constantly rebooting Treo. I tried to update the OS, look for conflicting programs, but now I'm ready to use it as a paper weight.

I'm now suspicious of Versamail... maybe I need to get rid of that? Anyone with ideas?

I think I'm a hard-core user; I use my palm for about 4 hours a day except at weekends when I clock up about 6 hours a day.

For internet connection I use AvantGo but I get disappointed at the limited choice of sites it allows. Is there a better internet application out there where the user can hot-sync pages to their palmtop?

Emails - VersaMail. like others, I have had problems downloading from secure sites such as GMail, and so re-direct everything to Yahoo to then get it to my palmtop.

I used to use DocumentsToGo for text editing and spreadsheets, but found that documents in other formats would make it crash constantly. I eventually replaced it with QED for most text editing.

Games - SolFree for card games, Bejeweled, 100Boxes, HotLines, and stuff I've written myself (eg Connect 4)

Programming languages are my essential tools - I usually find it more fun to write the games than play them - OnBoardC, SmallBasic, PalmPascal. Does anyone know of a C++ language for the Palm? Probably not.

And for the massive instruction books for these languages, a document reader is essential. I use the Adobe Reader for Palm OS. This is pretty slow for books bigger than about 100 pages. I tried loading a 1000 page assembly language manual onto my palm. Converting it to a palm format took 14 hours, and meant that the computer could not be used for that time. It was then too big for the adobe palm reader to read.
