There was a long pause in the room, unbroken by movement or word, before Edo let a slow chuckle fill the air. There was calm in that small laughter, control and enjoyment. This was life, this was truth. This was the Way.

Without waiting to see if his smooth amusement unsettled his opponent (for he highly doubted it would), the satyr spoke. "I am resolved to die, Knight. Are you willing to do the same for your collection?"

His hand fell to the katana in the obi, pushing the katana just a fraction out of it's kanji-encrusted scabbard. The spirits of his ancestors called in his ears, and they were of one accord. His mind joined in theirs, in amusement as the fraction of the blade shone and pulsed in the low light. Detirk might have control over the spirits in his sword, but Ikari fought with the spirits of his ancestors; those who had fallen in the past, fallen in their acceptance of the Way.

The time had come. There were no more words to speak.

It had begun.
