The little fox's bright yellow eyes blinked comically back at the little girl.

'My name'a Meimei-Aiko-Etsu-chan. You can call me Meimei, if you covered in noodle and standing in puddle of soup. What you think, huh? Meimei?'

As someone passes by, a tall man in dusty boots, the fox bounces further into the alleyway, looking suspiciously at the figure until it is gone. From nowhere she produces a long, pencil-thin stick of some bread substance, most of it's length covered in what looks like chocolate. She offers it out to the other girl. 'Pocky? It only bite back on half Sunday and if you don't mind yourself in temple. Have some?' She bounces up and down a little, excited.
