Subject: To hell with them
In reply to: DianeG 's message, "How long, Oh Lord! How Long Must I wait?" on 10:17:45 08/23/06 Wed GMT-5

You don't need to wait anymore. To hell with them. I think that more and more journals are taking years to respond, if they ever do. Why? They're probably swamped. But who cares why? I say give them six months and then send it out again. You have only one life to live, after all.

Right now I have stuff at the one year mark or more with Maisonneuve, The Wascana Review, Literal Latte and Room of One's Own. But the stories have been making the rounds elsewhere, too. Can't wait for these people, whatever their problems are.

Here's a few I've nver had trouble with: The Fiddlehead, The Prairie Journal, The Antigonish Review, Grain and PRISM. Probably because I mostly get rejections from them, but still. At least they answer.

Good luck elsewhere, Diane!
