In reply to: Londa (real name real email addy provided) 's message, "medicare part "d" community meetings" on 13:55:38 08/08/05 Mon

Londa -

what kind of meetings are these? Informational? Social? Political?

Is there a speaker and a subject - or a topic for discussion? Who is invited?

Thanks for clarifying...

Tom-

if you post something - you - not those who read it - are the one who is responsible for it.

If Londa wants to communicate something to us, she has a responsibility to post in a language we understand, and to explain what her post is about, otherwise she is just making meaningless noises.

Since you were the one who kept referring to the former "Tim's Board" as "Londa's," you are the one who is responsible for spreading the mis-information that that was her board. Perhaps you owe her an apology?

Hmmmnnnnn... Tom spreading mis-information...that has a familar ring to it.

These are informational meetings on Medicare Part "D" that are to be held in the community.

Londa -

pardon my ignorance, but what is "part D?"

Who would be affected by it or be eligible for it? What kind of information are they presenting? Should everyone attend? Is it a wide pubic issue, or something just for the elderly?

Thanks

Hope you don't mind me answering this...I see it hasn't been answered. Medicare Part D is the new Medicare prescription drug plan for which the open enrollment period will begin Nov. 15.

Anyone currently on Medicaid is eligible for it. Seniors are eligible, as are disabled on Medicaid etc. Seniors with EPIC will also be best served if they attend these meetings to learn of how EPIC will be working with Medicare. I believe there is a web site out there that outlines what it is...I might be able to track it down.

It is NOT just for the elderly, however, most of the people attending these meetings appear to be the elderly. The RS had a story about the Greenport meeting, perhaps pulling the text from that into here would be beneficial. Call them and talk to the reporter who wrote it, she might be able to get it for you.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Oh and the presentation is done by either a Healthcare Consortium rep or a county Office of the Aging Rep. There is a lot of info given out and it is limited, so people should call ahead to the number Londa, I believe, included.
