INT – MAGIC BOX – DAY
Xander walks down the steps to find a bored looking Nancy and RJ listening to an over dramatic Andrew who runs straight up to Xander and throws his arms around him
XANDER
What’s going on?
ANDREW
My life is over!
NANCY
Giles has closed the shop down
XANDER
He has?
NANCY
No, I’m kidding – we just sent all of the stock to get cleaned
XANDER
Oh
(pause)
Oh now you’re kidding
NANCY
Well done.
XANDER
Does Buffy know about this?
RJ
Spike ran to her I think
XANDER
This is new

What is?
XANDER
Well…one of our oldest friends business is gone, so is her yet here I am with…two people that didn’t know him and one who’s only been around for a couple of years
(beat)
It’s sad
NANCY
You okay?
XANDER
Yeah
(long thoughtful pause)
Just realised it’s time to grow up I guess
NANCY
You had to wait until you were twenty three?
XANDER
Hey just because I’m not…
(thinks)

NANCY
Ahem…that’s not important
ANDREW
It’s really not! Guys I’m gonna be out on the street, I have no money!
XANDER
But you have a house
ANDREW

ANDREW

NANCY

INT – BUFFYS ROOM – DAY
Tori is going through the bag, looking at the objects with bemusement. She takes the shadow puppets and lays them out on the bed, slowly adding them to the stand
TORI
Weird
CUT TO.
INT - ?????? - ????
Tara and Willow are walking through the open space as scenery begins to form around them – a black and white outline
WILLOW
Um…Tara we’re back in the kitchen
TARA
No…listen
Willow looks around – she can’t see or hear anything until a plate breaks
CUT TO.
INT – BUFFYS ROOM – DAY
Tori looks up at the sound of smashing – she shrugs it off and continues to add puppets
CUT TO.
INT - ???????
WILLOW
Okay I heard that
TARA
Dawn?
Dawn slowly fades in – she’s in the kitchen making food as Tara and Willow appear to her
DAWN
You can see me?!
TARA
Of course
DAWN
Don’t of course me! I’ve been hanging around this place for months and nobody’s seen me!
WILLOW
Did you steal my hairbrush?
DAWN
Maybe
WILLOW
Dawn we’re here to get you back
DAWN
What’s going on? I’ve seen everything that’s going on but I couldn’t hear any of it
WILLOW
Buffy thinks the key may be coming back
DAWN
Back?
WILLOW
Yeah, it tried to make Faith look like Glory’s host… then it spent a lot of time as you which I guess you already knew and… Faith and Buffy
TARA
Once Buffy worked it out
WILLOW
Right once Buffy worked it out… They trapped it
DAWN
How?
WILLOW
The slayer bag – Buffy tricked the key, she knew it wasn’t Faith so she tried to take it through the bag as a slayer, it wouldn’t let her go through. Then, when they crushed it’s “body” the key got sent to the other dimension
DAWN
What about Glory?
WILLOW
She died the same night she came back
DAWN
Hold on I have something I need to say
Tara and Willow look at Dawn with angst. Dawn grabs Tara and hugs her tightly
TARA
Ow
DAWN
Sorry but! I’ve seen you walking around like everywhere and nobody told me you were back because, hello, other dimension and…how did this happen?
TARA
It’s a long story, w-we really need to get back
DAWN
Are you evil?
WILLOW
Dawn!
DAWN
Sorry, people are always evil or crazy when they come back from the dead or out of coma’s
TARA
I’m not evil
DAWN
So can we go?
(pause)
Wait…that new girl…she’s…
Dawn looks up, the ceiling fades away as if she has x-ray vision
DAWN
She’s setting up the shadow puppets
CUT TO.
INT – BUFFYS ROOM – DAY
FAITH
What the hell are you doing?
TORI
Wow. Déjà vu
FAITH
Deja yourself, what’s your issue?
TORI
Excuse me?
Tori puts the last puppet down and steps up to Faith
TORI
You think I’m the one with the issues here?
FAITH
Didn’t your Mom ever teach you to respect your elders?
(ignored)
How about going through peoples things?
Tori folds her arms and arches her brow
FAITH
Guess not. Did anyone ever teach you not to piss me off?
TORI
You know what, kiss my-
Smack. Faith smacks Tori down onto the bed
TORI
Crazy bitch!
FAITH
Who are you talking to because, I don’t see any mirrors
Tori lunges at Faith and smashes her head against the desk before smashing her face first into the mirror. She takes a shard of glass and is about to lunge it into Faith and a hand wraps around her wrist.
Tori falls back as Kennedy pulls her away
KENNEDY
(to Faith)
You okay
She pulls her up as Caridad and Vi stand in the doorway
TORI
Can’t fight your own battles Faith?
FAITH
Wanna find out?
TORI
I can take all of you
KENNEDY
Bring it on
VI
Kennedy
KENNEDY
Shut up Vi! If she’s up for the challenge then so be it
FAITH
Wait, Vi’s right. Just drop this – she’s beyond not worth it
KENNEDY
She was going to kill you
FAITH
Everyone’s tried at some point
(shrugs)
Yet here I am and there I’ll be
Faith walks out of the room with a cool and calm glide, Kennedy stares over Tori as Vi walks away following Faith
KENNEDY
I’m watching you
BUFFY
So am I
Buffy walks into the room and steps right in Kennedy’s face
BUFFY
I’ve told you once.
KENNEDY
Get out of my way
BUFFY
This is MY house. Don’t ever tell me what to do
KENNEDY
Why you do that?
BUFFY
Do what?
KENNEDY
Talk to me like I’m a potential? I am a slayer – we all are, have been for a year now
BUFFY
A whole year – that doesn’t mean a thing
KENNEDY
It means we don’t have to do what you say
BUFFY
Are you quite finished?
KENNEDY
No, I’m not!
BUFFY
Neither am I! If you’re so good, if you’re such a big bad slayer – then why the hell didn’t you keep on fighting or even running?
Why did you come here when you heard things were getting bad?
KENNEDY

BUFFY
Yourself! You came for protection because you knew you’d get it no matter what? Well you know what Kennedy?
(hard)
Prove you’re the slayer you think you are. Prove you don’t need me or Faith, even Willow – go out there into the big hard world and call me in two years – see if you’re alive
KENNEDY
That’s way harsh
BUFFY
So is reality! You think I lived this long by going out there on my own? If I didn’t have help I would’ve been dead for seven years! Twice! Twice I died and twice my friends got me back!
(beat)
The whole point of me calling you all as slayers was so nobody had to go through it alone, ever again
Tori picks up the last shadow puppet
CARIDAD
Buffy…
BUFFY
I did this to save you and you throw it back in my face by saying it’s not my rules? It never was my rules – no matter how many times I change the rules, Evil will change them back. If you don’t like it, get out of the game
CARIDAD
Buffy…
Buffy and Kennedy look at Caridad who nods at Tori as the last puppet locks into place
BUFFY
No!
KENNEDY
Tori!!
Faith and Vi coming running into the room as it fills with light, sparks cackle around the room as the portal opens – a green light hovers yet has vocal without form
END OF PART THREE
INT – BUFFYS ROOM - DAY
THE KEY
All it took was a little girl to set me free
FLASH
EXT – FOREST – DAY
Tori gets out of a truck at the side of the woods as the fog of the key swirves through the air
Tori continues to walk through the town as the fog follows her, climbing into random people
FLASH
THE KEY
They all do as I say and come next week your little sister is going to pay for this! Plenty of times she was pushed to the edge and never broke the mortal shell that held me so long!
The light explodes out, tearing off the wall to Buffy’s room – revealing the street. Buffy and the other’s are all thrown back into walls – Faith is thrown through a wall
The light pours into Tori via her mouth, she falls to the floor in pain before the room goes dark.
Tori looks up – her eyes bright green
THE KEY / TORI
Now I’ll tear you all apart piece by piece. You thought The First put you through it? Meet his biggest fear
Tori leaps out of the window and sprints off down the street, the others are still scattered around the room, gasping and panting as they look up in shock. Caridad climbs through the wall to tend to Faith
Just as Buffy attempts to stand another light appears – crackles everywhere as another portal appears. Willow comes into the room
WILLOW
What happened in here?
Tara follows
TARA
Oh god…
Tara looks up at the portal
TARA
It worked
Buffy looks at Tara before looking at the light which soon fades to reveal Dawn
BUFFY
Dawn…
Dawn stares at Buffy. Nobody says anything
FADE TO BLACK
DAWN (V.O)

This episode marks the final appearance of Anthony Stewart Head on the series. He has not signed nor is he in talks to appear in any episodes until at least half way through the tenth season.
This episode marks the first appearance of Dawn on the series since 8x11
This is the final appearance of ‘The Magic Box’ on the show.
This is the final episode shot with Iyari Limon and Dania Ramirez. This was shot after the finale in which they both appear.
Though Tori died, this episodes was originally to be the final episode for Rebecca Cartwright – however she will now portray The Key in both parts of the finale.
