EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Willow, Tara, Faith and Dawn step out of one car.
Vi, Kennedy, Xander, Nancy, Andrew, Spike and RJ climb out of RJ’s van.
VI
Where’s Buffy?
WILLOW
She’ll be waiting – she said she’d meet us here
SPIKE
I still don’t like that we changed the plan without telling me
WILLOW
Sorry Spike that’s the only way it’ll work. The key can only function in a stable body.
SPIKE
I still don’t see why we have to let Tori knock me out!
XANDER
Because then Dawn can knock her out when she goes to “save” you
TARA
The key has to choose a host – it has to be a body that’s unable to decide for itself – someone unconscious or comatose
KENNEDY
Or possessed like Tori was
WILLOW
Right, so here’s thinking that once it leaves Tori it’ll go to the nearest useable body
SPIKE
That’s me right?
WILLOW
Right – except…
Willow stops
WILLOW
I may have just detected a tiny flaw in our plan
SPIKE
Can’t say I’m sad
WILLOW
You’re not dead anymore! It…won’t reject your body because you’re not dead
KENNEDY

I-I don’t understand
WILLOW
Well sure it can function in an uncontrolled body but not a dead one, there’s nothing to control.
XANDER
Don’t take this the wrong way but I am so not happy you’re alive
SPIKE
Exactly what other way am I supposed to take that?
They turn the corner as Dawn and Willow continue talking
DAWN
We’ll find another way. Buffy knows the plan right?
WILLOW
All of it. She should be waiting for us by the…
(pause)
Stage
NANCY
I thought you said everyone was too busy being controlled by the Key to attend graduation?
XANDER
Looks like we’ve got a pretty big turn out
FAITH
These guys are all super strengthed right?
XANDER
Thank you. I’d actually forgotten that part
FAITH
Just doing my job
ANDREW
Holy crap! They’re gonna kick our collective asses
DAWN
No they won’t
(unsure)
We can do this…Will, do the speech
CUT TO.
INT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Buffy is slammed down through a desk by Tori. Suddenly she stops as she senses the others…
TORI
There’s two in the building…get them.
CUT TO.
INT – CORRIDOR – DAY
Faith and Spike are pacing down the corridor, swords/weapons at the ready.
FAITH
This place always gave me the wig
SPIKE
Maybe it’s the whole Graduation thing. Rumour has it you’ve never made it through a whole one
FAITH
Third time lucky
SPIKE
Three strikes and you’re out
FAITH
Could be. Same to you – I mean, how many lives can one guy have?
SPIKE
Guess we’ll see
Spike puts his hand out to stop Faith – he sniffs the air.
SPIKE
Demons here in 3…2…
CUT TO.
EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Willow nervously walks up to the stage as the others wait at the sidelines. She gives a little wave to the lifeless crowd
WILLOW
Wow. Big crowd. Erm…Congratulations you all graduated.
(long pause)
Okay. Bye now.
(longer pause)
Shoo! Go away! Come on – don’t you have under age drinking to do?
FROM SIDE OF STAGE
NANCY
What is she doing?
XANDER
Being Willow…
ON STAGE
WILLOW
Okay – don’t you have any parties planned? Go home. You’re done!
The students stand in a mexican wave style – removing their gowns EXACTLY the same as in GD.2
WILLOW
Crap.
CUT TO.
INT – CORRIDOR – DAY
Spike and Faith go back to back as they have four demons each surrounding them
SPIKE
Ready to dance?
FAITH
Like Travolta baby
Faith spins directly into a kick as Spike smacks down onto the top of one of their heads
SPIKE
Come on!!! Yeah!
Spike grabs one of them by the shoulders and slams it head first into the wall, creating a large hole.
SPIKE
He’s still got it!
Or not…he gets smacked straight down to the floor
CUT TO.
INT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Buffy is slowly making her way back to her feet having been tossed behind a desk which Tori soon lifts and hurls out of the way
TORI
Stop interfering! I just want my body back!
BUFFY
It’s not yours to take back! It’s my sisters!
TORI
She’s not your sister! She’s not real!
Buffy looks out of the window and sees her sister and her friends fighting the students.
BUFFY
Let’s go and find out…
Buffy grabs Tori by both arms – ready to smash them both out of the window. She sees fresh cuts. Tori grins at her
BUFFY
What is this?
TORI
We’ve been fighting
BUFFY
I moisturise! My skin is not rough enough to…
(Realising)
Blood of the key
Tori begins laughing as Buffy runs off past her.
TORI
Always thinking with your fists slayer!
CUT TO.
EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
RJ takes a quick punch at a student. Proud of having knocked him out
RJ
He’s such a jerk
Dawn comes to his aid as another pair of students – from the wrestling team, come charging at him.
She steps in and smacks them both away
DAWN
You’re welcome
Xander is fighting off with two of the cheerleaders as one of them produces a large knife
XANDER
Oh crap
NANCY
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
She comes running in and tackles the girl the ground and knocking her out.
ANDREW
Hey I was gonna do that!
Kennedy and Vi look up as some of the demons begin spilling out from inside the building. They notice the number swelling
VI
Dawn!
Dawn looks over and sees them. She runs inside after tossing a long wooden fighting stick to Vi
DAWN
Take over
CUT TO.
INT – BASEMENT – DAY
Buffy reaches the door to the room containing the seal – the door has been removed and the room, which was filled with cement – has begun disappearing as blood (which is giving off a green light) eats away at it.
BUFFY
Oh god…
(thinks)
Willow…
Buffy slams the door back against the hole and sprints off again.
CUT TO.
INT – CORRIDOR – DAY
Dawn arrives and looks at the two of them – they seem to be managing.
DAWN
Where’s Buffy?
SPIKE
She’s not outside?
Dawn looks at Spike in loss before sprinting upstairs. Literally seconds later – Buffy appears
FAITH
B?
BUFFY
Where’s Dawn?
SPIKE
(hits a demon)
She’s just gone upstairs lookin’ for you
Spike snaps the demons neck clean off and tosses his head at another demon
Faith and Buffy stare each other
BUFFY
The Key’s up there
SPIKE
Go!
Faith looks at Spike reluctantly
SPIKE
I’ll be fine!
She follows Buffy.
CUT TO.
INT – OFFICE – DAY
Tori is sat in a large chair as Dawn crashes into the room
TORI
Hey there pretty thing
DAWN
Where’s my sister?
TORI
You mean you don’t wanna hang out?
Tori grabs a paper weight and hurls it at Dawns head, knocking her clean out.
CUT TO.
EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Willow is ducking blows as she stops suddenly. She freezes and looks as though she’s listening (think ‘Showtime’)
WILLOW
Buffy…
CUT TO.
INT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Buffy and Faith rush into the room – it’s empty. Faith looks behind her – the door to the roof.
FAITH
Buffy…
CUT TO.
EXT – ROOF – DAY
Dawn is placed down in the centre of a large red circle
TORI
Just you and me now. One little cut and we’ll be right back where we belong…nowhere.
Tori picks up the knife and slams it into her body – green light beams out from everywhere. An explosion of light occurs which throws Faith back against the wall as Buffy follows behind her.
BUFFY
Dawn!
Buffy runs over to a stirring Dawn as the light vanishes.
DAWN
B-Buffy…did we win?
FAITH
Don’t count on it
Buffy and Dawn look over in fear as Faith elevates – eyes green.
FAITH
What do you say B? You and me, one on one, for old times sake
Faith grabs Dawn and throws her off the roof
BUFFY
Dawn!
Dawn luckily lands on the flag which is suspended out between two buildings – it breaks her fall as she roles to the ground
Buffy turns back to Faith
BUFFY
Faith listen to me
FAITH
I’m tired of listening. You just ruined my only chance of getting back to me. I guess I’m gonna have to start this whole waste of time all over again!
(laughs)
You wanna see how pissed that makes me?
Faith swings for Buffy who blocks her punch – and so the fight begins
END OF PART THREE
EXT – HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Willow rushes to Dawn’s side as the others continue fighting. Kennedy has now joined Spike inside the building.
WILLOW
Dawnie…
DAWN
It’s got Faith!
WILLOW
The Key?
Dawn looks into Willows eyes before going to speak
CUT TO.
EXT – ROOF – DAY
Buffy and Faith are going at it as Faith kicks Buffy out from underneath and hangs her over the edge
FAITH
Ready for the…
While looking into Buffy’s eyes, Faith reverts back to her self
FAITH
Buffy…
Faith lets go and moves backwards in shock
BUFFY
It’s okay
FAITH
It’s still in me…
(laughs)
Do it
Buffy looks confused before realising what Faith is saying
BUFFY
No! We can win this
FAITH
Seen evidence of that B?
Buffy doesn’t say anything – Faith eyes flash green again. She smacks Buffy flat to the ground before going straight back to Faith
FAITH
Can’t hold on much longer
Faith pulls a knife out of her belt and hands it to Buffy
FAITH
Buffy…
BUFFY
No…
FAITH
Do it!
Buffy is shaking – avoiding eye contact. Faiths smacks Buffy down again – this time as herself
FAITH
Come on Buffy, you’ve got enough reason. I went after your lover, ruined your life – tried to frame you for murder
BUFFY
Stop…
FAITH
Beat you up, tortured your Mom…
BUFFY
I know what you’re doing…
FAITH
Made your life a living hell, you think I’ve changed? You think I won’t do it all again. Get all hot and naked with Spike…
BUFFY
No…
FAITH
Take Dawn away from you?
BUFFY
NO!
A flash of lightning cracks through the sky as Buffy plunges the dagger into Faith. Faith smiles briefly before falling down in Buffy’s arms as the rain begins.
BUFFY
Faith…
FAITH
Congratulations…finally grew into those big sister clothes
BUFFY
(crying)
I’m sorry
FAITH
Man, I should’ve known
(breathless)
Graduations always get the worst of me
Buffy gives a small smile through her tears
FAITH
Always knew you’d be the death of me B
Buffy goes wide eyed as Faiths head rolls back. She lays still in Buffy’s arms.
The green light rises from her as Dawn – looking up through the rain, grabs Willows arm.
DAWN
Now!
Willow holds up her hands as Dawn unscrews a bottle.
The energy from the key drifts down into it and Willow tosses it into the air – waving her hand and locking behind the pan-dimensional shelving.
Dawn and Willow stare back up. They only see Buffy.
All the students – as well as Vi, Kennedy and Dawn, buck as coloured mists leave them.
Kennedy and Vi look at each other. It’s over. Dawn gives a half smile knowing that her big battle would be her only big battle.
EXT – ROOF – DAY
Everyone slowly forms around Buffy and Faith as dozens of tiny lights hit into Buffy.
She looks up at them all – Andrew and Dawn are crying. Xander is hugging Willow and Spike seems lost for breath and words.
Vi and Kennedy stare at Faith – they can’t grasp it.
Buffy’s head springs up – she looks at Kennedy, Vi and Dawn confused.
Faith held the true line. With her death it’s back to it’s original state. The one slayer. Destined to be.
END OF SEASON.
