(laughing)

XANDER (V.O)

INT – SUMMERS HOME – NIGHT
XANDER
So she’s running through this house screaming as he chases her with that sinister look in his eyes. They get to the top of the stairs and she falls in this great panic
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
Dawn is lying at the bottom of the stairs, knocked out. RJ creeps down by her and goes to kiss her. Dawn’s eyes spring open as she kicks him in the stomach and launches him against the stairs.
RJ
Bitch!
Dawn holds her arm in pain and runs for the kitchen where Andrew and Janice remain
DAWN
We have to go!
JANICE
What happened to your arm?
ANDREW
What’s going on?
DAWN
RJ has completely lost it, he’s like possessed or something, we need to…
Dawn stops and look around in panic
DAWN
Where did every body go?
INT – SUMMERS HOUSE – NIGHT
XANDER
It’s just the three of them left
INT – PARTY NIGHT
ANDREW
They just took off, I think the cops were on their way or something
DAWN
Janice, what’s wrong?
JANICE
I…
Janice falls off of the stool and begins shaking
DAWN
Andrew get her out of here
ANDREW
What are you going to do?
DAWN
Just help her, call Buffy
ANDREW
Dawn…
Dawn grabs a knife from the side and clenches it tightly
DAWN
I’m gonna play his game
INT – SUMMERS HOUSE – NIGHT
BUFFY
That’s it? They’re all stood around the kitchen and then he slaughters them all? I could’ve got that for $3 at the store
WILLOW
It was kind of lame
XANDER
But you’re missing the point, it’s not the boyfriend that done it. It happens at that same party every ten years after that – the spirits or something
BUFFY
Wait, where was this frat house?
XANDER
The loner one, on Baker street
BUFFY
The one my Sisters at right now?
XANDER
What? No, it’s the one…
(pause)

BUFFY
Get in the car
CUT TO.
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
Dawn, keeping her arm folded close to her, slides along with her back to the wall and the knife in her hand.
She reaches the end of a long hall which turns into the dorm rooms. With no warning, not even a flicker, the lights go out.
CUT TO.
EXT – PARTY – NIGHT
Janice and Andrew look up as the lights go down
ANDREW
Oh god!
CUT TO.
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
RJ is creeping slowly along a corridor holding a baseball bat
RJ
Da-a-wn, come out, come out wherever you are…
(damn!)
Oh come on Dawn! Don’t be such a bore!
He turns the corner at a shuffling and expects to see Dawn standing there, a cat leaps out at him
RJ
Damn it!
(pissed)
Dawn you stupid bitch get your ass out here NOW!
Dawn springs out of the wardrobe and crashes into RJ tossing him down the stairs. She manages to grab the banister before falling with him.
RJ remains still at the bottom of the stairs Dawn cautiously approaches him, attempting to climb over him.
His eyes spring open causing Dawn to scream as he grabs her ankles. Using her other leg she boots him in the face and sprints up the stairs – after finding himself to his feet, he follows her
RJ
You shouldn’t have done that Dawn!
She continues running and skids into a side room, slamming the door and pushing a chest in front of it.
She’s trembling for a moment until RJ begins bashing at the door, the chest is slowly moving.
Dawn runs to the window and looks out for help. She can see Andrew and Janice but it’s way too high for her to risk climbing down in the rain.
DAWN
Andrew!
ANDREW
Dawn!
(worried)
Are you okay?
DAWN
Yeah I’m having a ball! Did you call Buffy?
ANDREW
There’s no phones
DAWN
Andrew, find a phone…
Dawn is knocked from the window as RJ breaks into the room and throws her over
ANDREW
Dawn!
He can hear her screaming as he lowers the bat to the floor
CUT TO.
INT – BUFFY’S CAR – NIGHT
BUFFY
Damn, stupid comatose snail car!
CUT TO.
INT – PARTY – NIGHT
Dawn rolls out of the way as RJ swings the bat down, just missing her head
DAWN
Stop it!
RJ
Come on, there’s nothing wrong with a little touching base
CUT TO.
EXT – PARTY – NIGHT
The rain continues to pour as Andrew steps onto a bench, looking up at the window
JANICE
Are you crazy? He’ll kill you!
ANDREW
If I don’t try then he’ll kill her! Run to the road, get help
Janice flaps about in panic before sprinting off into the night
ANDREW
Okay, Andrew you can do this
He steps up onto two piled up kegs and grabs his hands onto the ledge, hanging off.
ANDREW
Oh crap!
Andrew slips in the rain and is hanging from the ledge, he manages to pull himself up as one of his sneakers falls down into the pool.
CUT TO.
EXT – THE FRAT GROUNDS – NIGHT
Janice steps out into the road, waving her arms around frantically. Buffy’s car skids to avoid her
Buffy leaps out of the car, closely followed by Willow and Xander
BUFFY
Janice…
(rolls eyes)
Halloween plus Dawn in trouble, how did I not reach the Janice conclusion
JANICE
She needs help
WILLOW
What’s wrong?
JANICE
It’s RJ…
BUFFY
I knew it!
WILLOW
Did he by any chance try to kill her?
JANICE
Badly
XANDER
As opposed to the good kind of killing her?
WILLOW
Xander, not the time
BUFFY
Where is she?
JANICE
She’s up stairs – Andrew’s the only other person there
BUFFY
This miz just keeps getting better
Buffy begins running as the other’s remain standing
WILLOW
Buffy!
CUT TO.
INT – FRAT PARTY – NIGHT
RJ has Dawn cornered as Andrew spies in from the window
He bangs on the window to get RJ’s attention. As RJ goes to pull him in, Andrew smashes a plant pot from the window sil and knocks RJ out. Andrew tries to keep a grip of him, but while supporting himself – this is impossible and RJ slips from the ledge, falling three stories and crashing down.
Buffy arrives as RJ lands in the pool, she dives in immediately to stop him from drowning.
CUT TO.
INT – FRAT – PARTY – NIGHT
Andrew pulls himself through the window and falls down on the floor, soaking wet
ANDREW
Are…you
(breathless)
Are you okay?
DAWN
(laughs)
I’ll live, are you okay?
ANDREW
Sure, I think
DAWN
Andrew you just climbed three stories and saved my life in the rain, you hate rain
ANDREW
I did, didn’t I?
DAWN
My hero
Andrew smiles appreciatively as Willow and Xander crash through the door.
XANDER
Where is he?
WILLOW
Dawn…you’re okay…and, and Andrew who is also not dead
DAWN
We’ve got it under control
ANDREW
I saved her
(proud)
I’m the hero
Andrew helps Dawn back onto her feet, she flinches at the pain
ANDREW
We should get you to a hospital
DAWN
You can stop playing hero now Andrew
ANDREW
Really? Because I gotta pee.
END OF PART THREE
“The following day”
EXT – SUNNYDALE HIGHSCHOOL – DAY
Dawn is sat at lunch with Janice as Willow and Buffy watch on.
JANICE
You think she’s ever gonna let you out of her sight again?
DAWN
Only if she goes blind
CUT TO.
Buffy’s table
WILLOW
Buffy…she didn’t mean to
BUFFY
I know, but believe me when I say grounded is an understatement
WILLOW
What would you do if your Mom had grounded you every time your boyfriend was possessed?
BUFFY
She did!
RJ begins to walk across the yard with his head down, he has his hands in his pocket and he’s nervous
BUFFY
(to herself)
Don’t even try it Dawn
Dawn steps from her seat and walks over to RJ
WILLOW
She tried it
DAWN
RJ!
He tries to avoid her
DAWN
RJ I don’t blame you
RJ stops and throws his head back
DAWN
Are…are we okay?
RJ
How are you so cool? You don’t blame me…
DAWN
No, I don’t
RJ
Well, I blame you
Dawn looks shocked and hurt
RJ
Later Summers
RJ walks away, not looking back as Dawn stands in shock, slightly welled up.
CUT TO.
INT – SUNNYDALE HOSPITAL – NIGHT
NURSE
So, how many times do you think the Summer’s kid’s been here in the past two years?
DOCTOR
I think we should open her own ward
The Nurse laughs as she finishes making the bed
NURSE
Looks like she left her watch here, I’ll call them
Both leave the room, the doctor switches off the light. The bed sheet begins to glow before fading away completely, the metal legs of the bed rust and crumble.
