Xander and Buffy slowly walk down the corridors neither is speaking
BUFFY
You’re real quiet for somebody who needed to talk
XANDER

INT – NORTH HALL – DAY
Buffy pulls down the restricted area tape and leads Xander through
BUFFY
They still haven’t finished clearing everything up
XANDER
I’d noticed
They step over various bits of rubble left over from the earthquake.
XANDER
Oh god
Xander covers his mouth
BUFFY

Bringer arm, still holding a knife
Xander takes a closer look, the knife is covered in blood
XANDER
Anya’s blood

Xander snatches the knife from the bringers hand, by now blood has crusted to it, solid.
BUFFY
There’s something on there
Buffy holds back from heaving as she scrapes the blood off and pulls out a fine piece of silver.
XANDER
Anya’s necklace
(smiles)
She loved this, wore it all the time
BUFFY

XANDER
It’s covered in her blood
BUFFY

This might sound sick but I kind of don’t want to

I understand, when Mom died she had a bag of laundry to do I’ve still never cleaned her clothes

Yeah. It just, it makes me so mad that she was so messed up that they couldn’t even let me see her body

Xander it wouldn’t have been easier believe me, I doubt you’d have been able to tell it was here. From what Shannen says…

Long pause. Then in typical avoiding Xander way
XANDER
This conversation is getting a little gross
BUFFY
It is. So what did you come here to talk to me about?
The two lead off, Xander pauses as he clutches Anya’s necklace tightly before throwing it back into the rubble.

INT – MAGIC SHOP – DAY
The tension is high in the room, well that’s understatement cut if with a knife? No you wouldn’t even need a knife.
ANDREW
How long does it take to get coffee?
GILES
What I don’t understand is that they pay $3.00 when we have a kettle in the back

Willow is buried in books, looking up as Kennedy walks up the stairs

Giles hangs up the phone
ANDREW

I’ve got to collect it in an hour

INT – XANDERS CAR – DAY
XANDER
He knows why you’re angry
BUFFY

XANDER
I don’t want to take sides Buffy but you can’t blame him
BUFFY
(sad)

Dawn is what we’ve got to focus on right now and…
BUFFY

(laughs)

XANDER
Hey I’m the oldest, well except for Giles and Spike

Xander pulls the car over and leaps out
BUFFY

EXT – MAGIC BOX – DAY
Nancy is walking past, Xander tags her down as Buffy finishes badly parking the car in the back ground.
XANDER
Hey
NANCY
Couldn’t wait until tonight?
XANDER
I can’t make it
NANCY
Xander!
XANDER
But I can promise that if I’m alive tomorrow night then we’ll celebrate seven months until your birthday with…bowling and a movie
NANCY
Six months and twenty nine days and we’ll celebrate it with dinner at yours and a video
XANDER
Sounds good to me
NANCY
Glad to hear it but um, I think you should go help your friend
Xander looks over as Buffy almost crashes into another car
BUFFY
Sorry!
CUT TO.
INT – MAGIC BOX – DAY – BACK ROOM
Buffy is sat with Giles all is quiet
BUFFY
Xander’s throwing a spaz because I broke his toy
GILES
Actually your broke mine, Xander’s is in for repairs from the last time
BUFFY
Oops?
GILES
Buffy
BUFFY
Giles I’m sorry, I…you know that earlier it wasn’t all you it was…
GILES
(sympathetically)
I know
(Pause)
Buffy she’ll be okay
BUFFY
(doubtful)

Buffy stands to leave
GILES
Buffy

GILES
He’ll come back, give him a day or two more
They smile at each other before Buffy squeezes the air from Giles
BUFFY
I’m so glad they have planes!
END OF PART THREE
INT – SUMMERS HOUSE – NIGHT
Kennedy and Buffy stand both nervous and cross-armed as Xander and Giles secure the final wall to a cage. Full thick Iron bars.
XANDER
You’d have to be a god to break out of this thing…and a real big Rhino god once Willow puts her mojo on it
WILLOW
Is Dawn ready?
BUFFY
She’s in bed
WILLOW
Good.
XANDER
You sure she shouldn’t be here for this?
BUFFY
Whether she’s brave or not I’m not ready for her to see Glory yet
WILLOW
That’s if this even works
GILES
You can do this Willow
Willow looks doubtful as she climbs into the cage and pours a circle of red sand
She climbs back out as Xander double padlocks the eight bolts.
WILLOW
First the barrier.
WILLOW
Mother of silence, Mother of word
Refuse my voices but let me be heard
Hold back this beast until my will be done
Mother of darkness, keeper of keys
Lock the beast still, the will belongs to me
The room fills with a blinding yellow fog that swirls it’s way around the cage. Buffy swings the scythe against it, it crashes off and swings across the room. Willow hurls a bolt of magic, it bounces off from wall to wall.
KENNEDY
So it works
WILLOW
Now for the big stuff
Willow throws her head back and places her hands flat on the scroll. The words run up her arms like in ‘Villains’ only this time, as usual, her hair is white.
Willow stares at the cage for a moment, light bashes around the shield trying to escape. It eventually forms in a small ball
BUFFY
Willow what’s happening?
KENNEDY
Leave her
Willow continues, she’s shaking before falling back. Kennedy helps her up
WILLOW
Did I do it, is she there?
Willow looks over
WILLOW
But…I’m sorry
BUFFY
(disappointed)
It’s okay
They begin to walk to the door as the light rages up again, shaping into the form of Glory
