Subject: Hamlet's name

Hamlet is both the dead king's name as well as Hamlet the younger. I wonder if the name links both characters more than just the tradition to name one's son the same name. Hamlet the Y. talks about Hamlet the elder's character. He says that he was a good king and was very different from the new king. Did Hamlet inherit these good qualities from his father? Is this why Hamlet is struggling against grief? Hamlet calls the world empty and stale. Did Hamlet the elder's world die with him? We know that there is something very wrong with Denmark. It all started with Hamlet the elder's death. The combination of the appearance of the ghost and the line " there is something rotten in the state of Denmark" reinforces that it is there even though it might not have been from the father's death.
