I agree, I think the double meanings bring so much to the plot. If you think about it, how interesting would the speech or the plot of this play be if you didn't get to work through the dense speech. That is what I love about Shakespeare, you almost have to work to understand him, and it is so rewarding when you finally get it because his writing is truly beautiful. I highly doubt that this same story would be half as interesting in modern day english, or that all of the subtleties and double meanings could be adequately portrayed.
