The little prince was pretty sad, and I definitely thought some of it was beautiful. After all those super bleak depressing stories from Kafka and Dostoyevsky and such, it felt so weird reading The Little Prince. It was definitely more cheery overall, but for a children's story it still had a pretty sad ending...unless your children are like Dr. Jackson's I guess.I dunno if I'd read this sort of thing to my kids, though since I was raised on the bearenstein bears and go dog go, I might have had an inferior childhood.
