We were talking about 5 star resorts also when they try to sell me, only that you get to see it yourself. You can find also Ubin resorts now listed as one of the exchange in RCI ! Not sure what you meant about the $1k, I paid more than 10k plus yearly maint fees for this resort and for this trip I think only admin fee is charged. Not a good deal !
