hi,
we own a timeshare in phuket & had given up hope of selling it. We were contacted by LRD who offered to buy on behalf of a Spanish firm ( Inmobilitia) but we need to send them money to translate documents, & register our timeshare etc. LRD are based in singapore is this a new scam?

No matter what anybody tells you, there is no market for reselling timeshares. They will likely make promises to you, then ask you to upgrade later when they can't sell it. The upgrade will end up being the same price as your original timeshare, then you will be out a few more thousand dollars.

Hi Sharon,

All timeshare resell companies in Singapore are scams.

My advice to you is:
Be wary of companies charging an advance fee for services. Look for a company that offers to sell for a fee only after the timeshare is sold.

Please read my previous posting, "Beware of the timeshare resell scam!!!" at http://www.voy.com/161450/200.html

Can anyone shed some light on either Club Class Holidays or Regency Leisure Developments... Details were obtained in Patong, Phuket Thailand.

Sold by Westerners. Very inviting package. Not Timeshare. Just a holiday club membership for discounted holidays in certain locations around the world.

Thanks

Got taken in by club class last year while in Tenerife. Paid out £5000, but haven't tried to use the system yet. Got a suspicious call this week informing me that there were problems with them, and that they had disappeared from the office where they had been. Don't expect to get the money back easily. My advice is Don't touch them. I have emailed the OFT and the timeshare consumers association for help and advice.

Hi Sharon

We have just been done by LRD Consultants and post this message in the hope that we can stop someone else from doing the same. We will be following up with the police in Singapore and I will let you know if anything comes of it, but looking at this and other web sites I am not sure if anything can be done.

Hi Alison,

IF your contract with LRD was done after 1 Mar this year, you are covered by the fair tradings act. It allows a 10 or 14 days cooling off period, and under certain circumstances, you are allowed to claim a full refund if the fta has been breached.
