] Date Posted: Thu, Nov 04 2004, 18:28:10 I guess what is important is improved awareness of such schemes to the general public. Once information is out on how to deal with their various approaches, perhaps many people can be saved the agony of having been cheated out of their hard earned cash. It took my quite a while to find this forum via an internet search. Most other resources online (say if you type in ERI etc...) do nothing to warn potential customers of the dangers and pitfalls of actually attending the presentation. The best way is to minimise the number of people actually agreeing to go, knowing that many of us are susceptible to pressure selling tactics and often sign on the dotted line due to obligation or a very asian nature of not being able to say "no". What I would really want to try someday is to have a whole bunch of friends call up to make an appointment for a presentation. Of course none of us would actually turn up. I figure that the more slots we take up, fewer people would actually be around to be conned... [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: Sun, Nov 07 2004, 8:09:38 I agree with you on increasing public awareness. But past and present letters to CASE and newspaper articles dating back to 1997 seems to be of no use! (I know this from reading and searching on the net) Th's why I've started emailing all my email contacts to be careful of such scams. Maybe you can do the same. Also, even if the public is aware, the hard selling tatics leave people with little room to exit once they are conned on the streets. These companies have answers to every doubt! I feel a better option is to get our gov. informed. Going to CASE and laywers are of no use. Individual or as a group we must write to our MP or even better still. Write to our PM! The more letters they receive, the better!; they can't ignore the sad plight of the people who voted for them. I know of people who have already written to their MP but because they are few, the gov. does not seem to be aware of how bad the situation really is. So pls. pls write to your MP or PM. Here's how you can locate your MP for help http://www.parliament.gov.sg/Parliament%20Members/Htdocs/PM-consmap-list.html [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: Tue, Nov 16 2004, 15:22:32 "It took my quite a while to find this forum via an internet search" I agree fully with the above statement. I was trying to check on the net to see if there are many ppl caught in the same situation as me. I did not find many until I accidentally found this web-site. Is there any way to make this web-site more visible? For a start, I think it would be good it CASE allows this to be linked to their web-site which have a section on Time Share. For a start, public awareness should be increased as hard earned money are being conned everyday. And the worst part of it is that these companies still continue to operate as per normal right under the nose of the law. And I believe that CASE should take the lead in this as they have the resource, machinery and legal connections to do so. But sadly very little has been done. I am resigned to the fact that I am not going to recover any of the monies I plough into this Time Share program, but what irks me is like what I have mentioned above, i.e. these companies don't give two hoots whether they are running a scam or not and no one seemed to be stopping them.
