Subject: Task 11

I read an article in Toronto Star on December 16th about Roman Fraser, a 4-year-old boy struggling for his life after he fell through a frozen pond near his home. On December 4th, the day after he was pulled unconscious from the icy water, the boy's father knelt next to his hospital bed and whispered that he couldn't die because Christmas and Santa Claus were coming. Just the mention of Santa Claus was enough to quicken Roman's heart beats. Doctors had told Roman's parents there was a strong chance the child would not survive. The boy struggled through the rest of the week, drifting in and out of consciousness. But his condition improved to fair last Thursday, he was fully conscious, his vital signs were stable and his condition was likely to improve. His father said, "Roman laughed for us tonight, but he remains a very sick little boy. Christmas will be special this year. We got the best present a family could receive".
