Transition words and sentences

Specifically: “US soldiers were told to specifically kill women and children.”

Regardless: “With or without prizes, regardless, you are a winner?”

Subsequently: “Subsequently, this coralline overgrows all other crusts.”

But/ still: “But, still, it isn't the word's meaning that excites me.”

Until: “Until then, I'll just keep on saying: Microfiche. Microfiche. Microfiche.”

In simpler terms: “In simpler terms, the path translates to: "Find a file called image1.gif".”

Likewise: “Likewise, all other things I accept and profess, which the Holy Roman Church accepts and professes, and I likewise condemn, reject, and anathematize, at the same time all contrary things, both schisms and heresies, which have been condemned by the same Church.”

Vera and colleagues,
By now, you should probably know that I always have to make some kind of comments on the tasks, right? Therefore, in order to not change the way I am, of course, I have to say something about this reading task. After some time teaching I have never thought about asking my students look at the Internet and the web sites to find real examples of transitional devices. All I have asked them to do has been to write sentences on their own using such devices. However, I can clearly see now that it is much effective to ask them to browse (I loved that word) on the Internet. It is much more fun and less demanding from them. Actually, it also takes time, but I guess it makes them more secure and less apprehensive when coming to class and saying they were not able to do it. Again, better late than never. I’ll start applying it as soon as possible for my students’ assignments.

Writing 7

Classroom observation is one of the most effective and constructive ways that a teacher has to become aware of his/her own teaching attitudes and beliefs. However, there is one big problem, which is the fact that an observation can be very judgemental. Fortunately, it can be avoided by following some steps. Firstly, the observer should talk to the teacher, whose class they are going to observe, to collect as much information as possible, such as knowing the levels of the students, their usual reactions and personalities, the lesson to be taught, the main objective of that class, the typical patterns of interaction and class participation, and any problems expected. Secondly, it is a good idea if the observer asked the teacher whether he/she would like to be observed at a specific point, like the way he/she manages correcting the students, for example. In case there is no suggestion from the observee, the observer may select an element of his/her own interest and focus on that; otherwise, he/she becomes lost when watching a class since there are, indeed, many interesting points that call attention. Finally, there is an essential aspect, which can never be forgotten or taken less seriously, due to its great importance on the whole process. As soon as the observation is done, both observer and observee should meet to discuss about that class. That is when both most learn because they share their experience as teachers; for this reason, this is the best time for them to become more self-aware of their own teaching attitudes, beliefs, and classrooms practices.

P.S. Vera, I was very sad because the space we have to write our free-writing tells us that they are going to time ourselves, 10 minutes for instance, and then, we can press the button BACK in order to see our writing again, but they lied. After writing, I pressed the button and nothing happened; my writing had totally disappeared. For this reason, I did not want to try again and I decided to time myself. I wrote the text above in 14 minutes. Is it still worth it? I hope it is, because it is not my fault that the first time it didn't work.

One more thing, I didn't use the same connections of my reading task because since I was timing myself, I did not have time to think too long. Actually, I did not understand very much whether we were supposed to use those or not. Anyway, I have used many other transional devices.
