Ok, good questions Ciciely, but if I may speculate further.....

Maybe cleopatra was forewarned that ceaser was coming to sack alexandria and had her priests, who took care of the library, take out as much as the scrolls as possible to protect them from any impending doom.

Maybe she had copies made of certain important texts hidden in another place.

Maybe her priest had enough time to escape with as much of the scrolls as they could as the roman ships were seen from land.

There could have been many scenerios, to many to speculate on in the time alotted here.

Im just curious, why do you say that this event is legend? I thought it was a proven historical fact? In ceasers diaries, he claimed that he used the scrolls to burn and for fuel for his hot baths and steam rooms out of revenge.

I thought this event was historical fact? If I am wrong, feel free to enlighten me on the proper historical account.

JC
