The problem with your hypothesis is that (supposing the library was utterly destroyed as per legend during Cleopatra's reign, of which there is considerable doubt), in order to prevent the texts from being burned with the library, she would have had to have some sort of forwarning, implying either that she was psychic and "knew" the library was going to burn, or else that the people (Caesar? Rioters?) who allegedly did the burning would have had to file a flight plan. I just can't see it.
