Mr. Blease,

You tend to pick at straws just like your AE theories. Mainstream always think they have everything in the bag and in total control, but I think you people have missed many parts of the historical record and all you can do is speculate at best based on what little data we have to work with.

Their are accounts that I can google right now that says JC is right and I can google sites that say anthony tried to escape, plus many other theories inbetween I might add.

But who the heck knows for sure? Were you there with binoculars on top of a hill watching and documenting the events as they happenned?

I think JC, by using the word "speculation" in both posts concerning ancient Rome was spot on to say such a thing and is very warranted here.

Of all the accounts I read, anthony, jumped the gun and attacked octavians forces by sea. The egyptian attack boats that cleopatra made for him were far to heavy and bulky and lacked manuverability. As apposed to the boats in the roman fleets which were stealthy and fast. Secondly, the romans used a ramp machine that when very close to an enemy boat would fall down on the deck of the enemy boat and lock tight with a spike that when fallen would go through the wood so troops could board. So octavians had many advantages at sea. Thrirdly, octavians fleets had much experience fighting sea battles with the celts in the english channel where as anthony's troops were only trained in land infantry.

Fourthly, I cannot except the fact that anthony tried to escape on water because he survived that attack, came back to alexandria and made a second military attempt as octavian hit shore and moved inland. Anthony only had 2 legions left compared to octavians 15 but fought to the death.

Many, many different accounts in the annuals of modern academia...

But the bottom line is who knows? I can ask the same question about who built the pyramids.

Cheerio and tit tit cobuttle,
AG
