Subject: Lake Mildred Filled In

It's been over 30 years since I lived at Pierpont. So today I took a bike ride though UMass. Approaching Pierpont I was wondering why there were so many dump loads of fill on Pierpont's "front lawn". UMass is filling in Lake Mildred. Is that what it was called? That little swampy area in front of the dorm... the place where people skated in the winter.

Just more "progress"... as was the filling in of the reflecting pool by the FAC. It's now a garden. Maybe it was for the best. Rumor was the reflecting pool was built without a drain.
