I believe that the Britannic wreck will be around for some time still, but eventually will become a pile of rusting metal. I am very surprised after viewing wreck photos how great of shape she is in. This is mainly do to the fact that no military training or exercises have taken place around her, unlike the Lusitiana and the Empress of Ireland. Those two ships sank intact but have suffered horrid damage because of military activity and scavengers. As long as the Britannic wreck site is persevered I bet it will around for sometime to come. But, she is not intact, the bow was broken off during her sinking and is bent and in pretty bad shape (but still in the right place). Britannic’s wood work is all rotted away (or almost rotted away, this can been seen because her bridge is gone. Last years expedition showed photos of what remains of the bridge windows. Another note of curiosity, last years expedition said they were attempting to gain access to the Main Staircase. They never did because the doors would not open, but I recall reading in the journals of the divers that they believed the staircase collapsed as it did in the Titanic (but the dome covering is intact). Does anyone know if this is true of false.
