Subject: The Great Dog Caper continues.

So I come back into town yesterday and find that among the people who called, Las Vegas Metro Police was one. Apparently, the woman that stole my dog is now suing Metro and all the officers who arrived on the scene (including the supervisor who was contacted on the phone) for "stealing her dog." I've already spoken to two Internal Affairs officers and they're coming out to my house tomorrow to get my side of the story.
What a total and complete waste of time, money and manpower. The fact that they even have to follow up on this is absurd!
Life..... never a dull moment. :-)

Are they gonna bring a member of the K9 unit to interview the dog?

Please keep us up to date. This story is one of the strangest yet most hilarious I've read in a while.

:-)

Maybe you can read Rex the story and get his opinion....

[> [> [> So, Internal Affairs detectives show up this morn.... -- LaneyLounge, 15:02:06 01/08/04 Thu [1]

to take my statement. Boy, these guys really take their job seriously! ;-) They scoured over Foxxie's papers, asked me a couple of basic questions, then fired up the tape recorder. "Are you giving this information freely, meaning we're not threatening to put a lien on your house if you don't answer?" "Um, yep." I give them the Readers Digest condensed version of what happened and how Mrs. Gulch came to acquire my dog. The one detective asked about 50 questions, then the other one had some follow up questions. Sheesh, all this for a flippin' DOG!
They said in case Almira decides to appeal, they have everything documented. Something tells me, she will. *sigh*

Then get this! They get up to leave and we do the handshake thing and they're out the door. I came back in the house to get my keys so I could pick up my babe from school, and I noticed a fanny pack sitting in the chair where Detective 1 was sitting. It was his flippin' revolver!!! Apparently when he sat down, he'd undid the fanny pack and when he stood up, he had forgotten it. I picked it up (heavy dayamed thing) and walked it outside where they were still sitting in their car. Detective 2 rolled down his window and I said "Ya might need this" to which D2 cracked up. "Uh, YEA, he just might."

Hopefully, Mrs. Gulch will drop this whole matter and stop wasting everyones time, but if she doesn't, I'll keep you informed, Caro.

BTW, good one about the K9, 2gud. :-)

I can NOT believe that this woman, who stole YOUR dog, is insisting on taking this further.

I think you should contact Leno or Letterman......this unfortunate situation is very comical.

((((((Lane)))))) Belated hugs and sorry to hear about your dad.

I've talked to people that she works with and all they say is "Well, she's from another country." Exactly what country that is, I don't know. Perhaps Kentucky?

Watch it!

I grew up in Kentucky (until third grade), miss smarty pants.

So, after that comment, you better not try and use me as a character reference in the appeal...

;-)

This is all too funny, girl. Only you, I think. Only you. Wow. The whole service weapon thing had me thinking of a show that I watched one time when zoning out.... have you ever seen Reno 911?

Man. What a trip.

But then again, my parents were first cousins. :-)

And no, I haven't seen Reno 911. I'm still stuck on that twisted one with Lee and Edward, but I'll check out the other.

that should have read third cousins. Altho' if they were first cousins, that too would explain a lot about my family.

I hope it isn't one of those countries that eats dogs!

That's it! I know why she's so ticked! You took her dinner!

I never even thought about that! Now I understand her anger. Taking food out of her mouth and all. ;-)
