~*~*with all in agreement, you headed off to the other side of the valley, and headed up the incline to the other tunnel of the mines. you continued to travel directly east, avoiding all of the stairs that you passed. you eventually came to a small cave, lit by little mage lights that were floating aimlessly about. there was only one way out of here, and it required climbing. not much, though. the door was up on a ledge, which was fairly accessable by a series of smaller ledges that would be easy to scale. it took you no more that 20 mins, at the most. once at the top, you headed for the door. it was quite dark there, so you grabbed one of the mage lights floating by and threw it into the passage. white light flooded the area, and you nearly fell off the ledge when you saw something in there. it looked like a large white tiger with angelic wings- but its features were more refined and graceful. that, and it was only about the size of a large dog. its claws looked quite strong, none the less. a Mourning Star- A'Kara had said that it would not fight you. it looked at you with its head cocked to the side, then stood up from where it had been laying.*~*~

seeking the towers are you? not many people know about these mines. but you can't go this way- sorry to say. this will take you up into lady Chaialynn's Third Realm- or, more exactly, her Forest.

~*~*it grinned.*~*~

you have friends traveling her Sea, don't you. a band of summoners set out just recently. looking for the Star, i think. anyways- you want to continue through the mines. theres a passage down here that you can use, it will eventually take you to the Calling Sphere if that is where you are going. my brother is down there somewhere, so just beware his temper. if you catch him at a good moment, he wont give you any trouble. follow me.

~*~*he jumped off the ledge, and fell the 80 or so feet to the ground. you, though you questioned the thought later, jumped off as well. oddly, you found a very powerful wind half way down that made the fall quite pleasant, and did not hurt you when it dropped you about five feet early.*~*~

hmph.... not many people are willing to do that. but the Wind Watchers have an official here, so its not like they would let you die. havent seen him in a while, must be too many people on the surface. anyways, follow- and try to keep up.

~*~*he walked over into a dark corner, followed by a mage light. there was a crack in the wall here- you had not seen it before. he squeezed into it, and dissappeared down its depths. you followed to the best of your ability, finding it rather difficult to keep up while trying to dodge rocks sticking out of the walls, and trying to contort yourself in such a way as to allow you into the next area. when you finally came out, you were in another tunnel. there were no lights here. he handed you the one that had been following him.*~*~

head north from here- going south in this tunnel would take you to a nesting ground for the crying sprites. there will be another passage east, the third one along- take it, it will take you to my brother. ask to get into the mid levels. im going back now, so.... have fun.

~*~*it vanished back into the gap, and you headed north. you counted the paths, then stopped for a rest at the second one. you sat, rather happy to have a break. you rested for a few hours, while neither of the captives really said anything, and Aeden seemed occupied with manipulating the little mage light (causing it to turn all manor of unusual colors) off by himself. it had not been long before you heard gun-fire off in the distance, far to the south. it seemed that the allies of the captives had reached the Mourning Star's little cavern. you did not worry- they had a reputation for being rather tough-skinned, even against most explosives. you decided it wise to get going then, and headed on until you reached the third tunnel, and turned down it. it was not long before you came to another opening. in the back of this one was a door- and in front of it sat what looked like a black lioness with very long, draconian wings. she looked up at you, eyes gleaming.*~*~

....what is it that you want?
