Ok, so we have 2 posts on this board which are basically people just whinging.
Firstly about the Ave Maria venue. This was a GREAT venue. Yes it was a little cramped, but this meant that dancers now couldn't sprawl their stuff across 3 seats (which is good!) To organise a new venue takes alot of work, and to find one in Victoria is very hard to do. At least the bathrooms here are spacious and don't smell and plus there was a huge carpetted area at the back for teams to practice, opposed to the concrete outside at Blackburn. Essendon is clearly closer to the city (15 mins) compared to Blackburn (25 mins). It is good to share it around so this time it was on the Western side of Melbourne.
Secondly- regarding the judging on the weekend. I competed and personally thought that I deserved higher than what I got, but people: GET OVER IT! It is one person opinion, and just because it isn't the same as per usual, it is his opinion and we paid to enter that comp to be judged by his opinion. Maybe he judged and penealised heavily for upper body movement, or lack of turnout- something other ADCRGS haven't focused on in VIC before. To say that a Vic champ didn't place and that is a joke, the sections were very small anyway, so it meant that the Vic Champ could've come 4th place or similar and not gotten a place.

I agree with you 100%. You have to look at the particular section - there were 2 normally high placing dancers at state level in top 2 spots - I don't see that as bad judging. The vic champ won states on the day coming (NT) -- from placing around 6 / 7th in previous states. Put it in perspective., 10:34:53 09/19/06 Tue

i agree with your posting, however its a free world and we all have different opinions. some people cant help themselves and just have to stir the pot and then others take the bait and awwwaaay we go :) agree to disagree. i like both ave maria and blackburn (ave better for warm up for sure) our teacher felt the judging was quite fair on the weekend. each to their own :) (NT) -- sit back and relaaxxxx :), 19:52:12 09/19/06 Tue

i agree with the vics, i noticed that certain dance schools scooped the pools on saturday but on sunday the other school did well. each judge is different and scores acordingly. this is a topic that many of us debate over and will continue to for many years to come until changes are put in place. if at all :) dancing isnt cut and dry, its often a judges personal taste that comes into it. come on canberra lets see who dances well and who judges fairly!!
