• Irish Dancer completes Nashville Country CD-- Take A Listen! -- Sarah Marince Fan Club, 02:04:05 12/23/07 Sun [1]
  Sarah Marince, a 17 year old Irish dancer with the Bell School in Pittsburgh, PA has spent the past few months on Music Row in Nashville completing her first Nashville CD titled "Somebody Like You." Take a listen...it's awesome! You can catch some of her songs on her music myspace which is www.myspace.com/sarahmarince. Her CD will be available for sale on CDBaby.com and other local Pittsburgh retailers the second week of January. Her CD Release Party is scheduled for January 12...go to her myspace for details. Her CD is currently being shopped to major record labels and she would love the support of the Irish Dance commnity!!! Record labels check the plays on her myspace...so if everyone would check it out and give her songs a listen...it would be a great help to Sarah moving forward.Sarah began her career singing at local feisanna and has been competing for the Bell School for nine years...let's show our support for one of our own!!

  My name is Christian Bruhn. I am completing graduate studies in exercise science at Central Washington University. I am working under the direction of Dr. Vince Nethery, Professor in CWU's Department of Health, Human Performance and Nutrition. My thesis work is focused on designing a workout program customized for the movements associated with Irish Dancing.
  
  I am requesting your assistance in completing a survey designed to examine the training habits among dancers. The study will help determine the relationship between skill level, extracurricular activities, cross-training and injuries within the Irish dance population. The research conducted will be used to help develop a training manual focused on preparing dancers for competition.
  
  Information will be obtained from past and present competitive Irish Dancers of all age and skill level groups. Ages will range from 10 to adult (minor participation in the study will be completed by parent or guardian).
  
  An anonymous survey has been constructed to provide information on gender, age, skill-level, dance training, cross-training activities, extracurricular activities and injuries. Two surveys will be utilized (a survey for adult dancers, and a survey for parents/guardians of minor dancers 18 and under).
  
  A website has been constructed to disperse the survey http://www.cwu.edu/~bruhniiic/IrishDanceSurvey/HomePage.html
  
  Reasonable and appropriate safeguards have been used in the creation of these web-based surveys to maximize the confidentiality and security of your responses. Participants cannot be identified through this survey¯ directly, demographically or statistically. No contact information or direct response is requested on the survey.
  
  I am hoping for your assistance in obtaining the information needed to conduct this research. With your assistance we can better identify and refine the training tools and techniques to help create stronger and healthier dancers.

        • if only we had a crystal ball and could see in advance how things will go.......remember at the end of the day it is 1 adjudicator's opinion, take the good with the bad and keep positive for next time. This is such an extrememly subjective activity and (NT) -- it's a shame for dancers that there's not a strict criteria for adjudicating to eliminate personal prefrences.           • 15 years - and other sections - watched some of the results and found overall they were ok a few questionable results - but it's how you dance on the day and whether the judge likes your particular style.   How do you become an Irish dance teacher? Can someone who has danced for years (30 years) become one or are there rules and regulations? Please, this is NOT a dumb question... I would like to teach others in a small country town but don't know if I am allowed...no one will be entering any legal competitions, this will be purely for fun and fitness!

  I wish to protest the planned M3 motorway through the ancient grounds of Tara. As you are aware, expert archaeologists in Ireland and internationally have pointed out that Tara is not just constituted by the actual hill, but also by the surrounding landscape, which is extraordinarily rich in archaeological monuments. This is precisely the area the planned M3 will cut through, only 1 km from the hill itself.
  
  You are also no doubt aware that the Tara landscape is recognised as a site of not only Irish, but world importance. In particular, it holds a significant place in European cultural heritage. I therefore believe that the Irish Government has a duty to act as the respectful custodian of Tara, and all other ancient Irish archaeological sites, and to protect them for posterity and for the appreciation of present and future citizens of not just Ireland, but of all the world.
  
  I ask you to personally intervene in this issue, and to see to it that one of the alternative routes available for the M3 motorway is chosen instead.
