This is the part that has me crazy.Why is it that it is always the workers/employees that have to bear the burden and feel the financial pain? The workers/employees were not the ones who screwed up the call center deal(over TWO MILLION and counting),the workers/employees were not the ones who screwed up the steam heat demolition fiasco(over $430,000.00 not collected),the employees were not the ones who screwed up the hole in the ground theater project(millions of dollars wasted),the employees were not the ones buying broke down surplus vehicles and equipment,throwing money away on "proud to be" signs,etc.etc....It was the ADMINISTRATION,the elected officals,who all had the opportunity(and in my opinion the moral and professional obligation to do so)to step in and correct things way back when.So don't be bringing all of YOUR(elected officals)mistakes and screw ups on US(workers/employees.You all had the responsibilty way back when to correct this,eight years now,but you choose not to.So do not expect the workers to bear the burden for you now.Especially when the majority of those workers have for many years negotiated contracts with the city(that was benificial to the city),and the majority of the workers have a REAL CONCERN about their everyday duties they preform for the public,everyday they stand the REAL RISK of being killed,shot,stabbed,burned,falls,building collapse,spit on,contracting any number of diseases (HIV,AIDS,HEPATITIS,TB,)from the people who they constantly come in contact with over the course of the work day.And then they also run the risk of bringing it home to their family.So no,please do not expect these workers who clearly deserve the benefits,to pay for the screw up of others.
