Subject: Well put ditto!

Well put ditto! The employees benefits are NOT the real problem here, this is no surprise to anyone that the benefits are paid for, and why shouldn't they be when you are subjected everyday to death and disease or how about when it is carried home to your family and watching your young child almost die in the hospital from one of those great job perks that was carried home.
The blame does not lie with the employees benefits, the blame lies with an administration that ran amok for eight years and should be held accountable for millions and millons of dollars. As a community are we that blind that we are to forget about the past eight years, and be so quick to begrudge the people who are saving our lives, patrolling our crime ridden streets, and putting their own lives day in day out on the line their benefits? Can we do this and then forget the past eight years of being lied to, stolen from, and watching where we live fall apart to nothing because of an administration that we were told nothing could be done about? This does not make any sense at all, and to the comment about the buy-outs, yes it does save the city money with buy-outs, but wouldn't it save even more money if by-outs were stopped all together? There are plenty places of employment in this area that do NOT offer buy outs to their employees. How can employees that are not fortunate enough to participate in a buy-out be asked to pay almost $300 a month toward their family plan, when the buy-outs have just been raised $150 more then what they were.
After eight years of sheer torture, I would love nothing more than to see the negativity end and the city prosper once again, but with so many unanswered questions I just can't see how this is going to happen. How could anyone expect employees to be happy about contributing to health care when we are letting an adminstration basically walk away without accounting for millions and millions of dollars of debt? If that's the case why play the lottery, just run for office!
