Date Posted: 12:56:12 11/25/04 Thu In reply to: Matt Ostroski 's message, "Senior shirt injustice" on 09:55:19 11/06/04 Sat Sign the MHS Senior T-Shirt Petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/635473793 Midlothian t-shirt controversy What: Students being censored for Senior T-Shirts How: School administrators who don't know the Constitution When: Nov. 5, 2004 Where: Midlothian High School Plans: Submit online petition signatures to Midlothian ISD school board during January 19 meeting; file complaint against district for violation of First Amendment; possible legal action Media: You better believe it At issue here is a senior t-shirt that contains the following messages: Front: Let's get the heck out of Dodge. Back: And by Dodge, I mean Midlothian, and by Heck, I mean Hell. What part of Constitutional do they not understand? Excuse me? I was crazy, because I mean, I guess I thought we had free speech and free expression in this country. The Rest of the Story: http://www.voy.com/168601/78.html Juuuust when you thought it couldn't get better...it gets better. Sign the Petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/635473793 I have contacted Tom Corea and other legal experts on this one. FYI: He's the Dallas attorney who is currently getting his paperwork together to sue the fire out of the Waxahachie school district over its controversial drug search procedures at the junior high. If you think I'm going to go away just because I'm not at the paper full-time, you people are sadly mistaken. It seems as though Midlothian school officials need to practice what they preach and become educated. Students need to get sick and tired of the unconstitutional BS going on... As in the First and Fourth Amendments; throw in the due process Fifth Amendment as well. This war has just begun. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
