Subject: I do love this crocus image here, and it works so well paired with the "bursting of a mortar shell." Contrasting yes, but both are quite, well, masculine in spite of the fact that the crocus is a flower...! I do love how she gets inside John's head and lets us see Stephan through his eyes. Wouldn't it be a treat to have a glimpse of John from Stephan's POV?? I have a feeling it could be quite powerful, like the occasional moments where we "hear" Jamie looking at Claire. But what about this idea that there's "no madness...no yearning?" IMO, it could be a way of showing there's more than one way to fall in love... And I think he's kidding himself about the yearning. He's definitely yearning. Thanks for keeping this board going, Jane - great job!!
