I have to say, reading about the battle as it occured around him and hearing his account were completely different things. Diana does this so well. The actual battle is frought with emotion and confusion- I ended up re reading the scene three times to be sure I had absorbed all the details- I cannot even imagine what it must have been like to have to recount in detail!   - Yes, it was awful that John was even brought up on charges. They were looking for a scapegoat, on top of being unfortunate enough to have been involved in one of the explosions, John and his brothers had some enemies that wanted he and his family taken down a notch. Good thing John was who he was and didn't take it lying down. I was thrilled when he was vindicated in the end and able to put a stop to the creation of more cannons that would have caused more deaths. Once again our John ends up the hero!
