Subject: I also thought that the fragment was also tied to his relationship with Percy. All through Haunted Soldier you know that John is almost physically well, apart from the splinter, but he is still suffering emotionally from all that went on in Germany. Once that splinter came out, I felt that he could fully recover. All that poisoned him about that relationship was also removed with the splinter.
In reply to: Oleander 's message, "yes, i wonder what else it foreshadows? The metaphor we are presented with so beautifully also seems to give some clues to the future of their relationship. Will John be able, someday to resolve his feelings for Jaime so that he can love him without the constant guilt and pain? I think so...I can't wait for Scottish Prisoner" on 10:53:24 02/01/08 Fri
