Poor John, he was dealing with more than his recovery from his injury here. How could he possibly tell the Doctor what he was going through with Percy's situation, the guilt, and indecision about what to do? He couldn't explain his sense of loss and betrayal without outing himself..the injury was serious, but it wasn't John's only issue, and he wasn't free to talk about what was really going on. - (hate hitting that 'return' key by mistake)... because therapist's know the client can't tell them secrets and deepest experiences until a trusting relationship is established. But he recognizes in Lord John an intellectual, deeply reflective gentleman. Therefore, the doctor takes a more educational approach rather than discussing feelings or probing into highly sensitive issues. And it works. John finds ways of distracting himself from his problems and then takes direct action to begin the healing process. Of course, with Jamie, his direct action will cause both of them more pain.   - Oh, I hope you didn't think I was being critical of the doctor. I thought his advice was spot on and very helpful. My only problem with it was that there was a clock ticking on the Percy situation that the Doctor would have no way of knowing about.
