For him there was a difference, and he asked if LJG felt further obligation to Percy, either kindness or, as LJG interpreted it, familial love--neither of those was enough for him to give up his honor. I think it really boils down to that last line of the quote. LJG has accepted his sexuality and his place in society. I think that he feels that his personal honor, his sense of justice, honesty, and fair play, are what define him as a gentleman, a son, a brother, a soldier, a lover... and he can't betray that. -- LJG Discussion board

He is taking another risk for Percy's sake as well as his own honor's. If caught swapping bodies he and the family will face social death. The conventional thing to do would be to turn his back and never mention it again but he can't. Saying it outloud confirms what he already knew was the right thing to do.
