Subject: Yes, it rings so true to adolescent self-consciousness that he would not want anyone to know how curious he was. I love this chapter title, too, which seems ironic to me, since later in the book he realizes that he is actually quite a gambler, and good at it. He doesn't care to gamble at cards, for its own sake, but he is constantly risking himself in more serious "games", with verra high stakes. I hadn't seen him in this light before, but this books really brings out this aspect of his character (being able to outwit the opponent, the impassive poker face, the control of tactics and emotion), which I think is yet another area of common ground with Jamie.
