I agree. I tend to think that even should Tom suspect (which I don't necessarily think he does), it would never be something John would be able to be open about- even in the sense of knowing someone else knows. Jaime, Clair, Bree- these end up being the only people in his life who know him as he is- despite his wonderful ability to fit into society and hide his true nature, the very fact that he must always pretend must be emotionally exhausting at times. I also think Tom has such a regard for John's integrity both as a man and as employer that he wouldn't countenance such a thought. Guarding one's words is exhausting. Perhaps by his rank and status his daily conversations with subordinates would never approach the topic and it's only in social circumstances with someone such as Quarry that he need truly be on his toes.
