Lord John's bawdy comment, in addition to being called a <I>hound</I> by Quarry makes me truly laugh out loud everytime I read it. I love the banter between John and Quarry; their brotherhood is touching in a way all its own. I think it's the British gentlemanly stuff combined with plain old manly nonsense that does it for me in this scene. On the serious side, John must hide his sexual self from just about everyone, yet he still manages to have meaningful relationships with others. His strong sense of honor keeps him grounded, and his acceptance of self eliminates the debilitating guilt that might be part of someone less well-adjusted than John. What does Harry really know?
